About Sumanth Swaminathan
Dr. Sumanth Swaminathan is among a handful of world class South Indian classical saxophonists trained and tempered by the pioneering legend Dr. Kadri Gopalnath. Sumanth has earned widespread acclaim as a performer, recording artist, and torchbearer of this unique musical tradition. His exceptional performances include notable events and venues in the US, such as the Silver Jubilee Celebrations of CMANA, the Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts, Srutiās 25th anniversary celebration, and the US Divine Winds tour with V.K. Raman, and in India, including the Sankat Mochan festival (Varanasi), Narada Ghana Sabha (Chennai), and the Thiruvaiyaru Thyagaraja Festival (Thiruvaiyaru). He has toured India alongside Kadri Gopalnath, mesmerizing audiences with his soul-stirring saxophone melodies.
Sumanth is widely recognized as the pioneer and first saxophone artist to provide traditional nadaswaram-type music for weddings, and he has played over 250 Kalyanams to date. Sumanth has recorded and toured with classical dance troupes and has graced numerous dance arangetrams throughout the US. Sumanth’s school of Carnatic saxophone has produced dozens of concert-level performance artists.
